Thanks for your interest in the UAH Choral program. We are always looking for people who are excellent musicians, like to work hard, and also to have fun singing great choral music. Auditions are by appointment - contact Dr. Conran at 256-824-2581 or conranm@uah.edu to schedule an appointment. The audition, which only takes about 20 minutes, includes vocalization to determine vocal quality, sightreading examples, and pitch retention testing.

The Choirs are considered a full-year commitment even though students sign up each semester. For enrollment in the Choir for Fall semesters, call for an appointment the week before classes start or at the end of the Spring semester (the week before finals) prior to the Fall in which you wish to enroll. For Spring semester enrollment, call for an appointment the week before exams in the Fall.

When scheduling an audition, please provide the following information either by phone, the web, or email:

1. Past choir experience (both high school and church - where and when - director's name)
2. Sightreading ability (excellent, good, needs work)
3. Why you are interested in the choir
4. Foreign languages in which you have sung
5. Best high note that you are comfortable singing in public!
6. Solo experience
7. Accompanying experience and other instruments you can perform

If you are interested in participating in the choir and possibly earning a scholarship, we can schedule an audition for you at almost any time.  Please take a few moments to answer my questions and I will get back to you concerning an audition.  All Scholarship applications must be turned in to the university by December 1st of every year.  Even if you are not sure if you are coming to UAH, or that you would qualify for an ensemble or music major scholarship, you should still turn in the application form. If you do not, we cannot award you a scholarship.
