Student body
Total enrollment is about 7400, including about 1500 graduate students; 46 percent women, 54 percent men. UAH incoming freshmen score an average of 24 on the ACT examinations, among the best of Alabama's public universities.

Academic offerings
UAH offers 61 degree-granting programs that meet the highest standards of excellence, including 30 bachelor's degree programs, 18 Masters' degree programs, and 13 Ph.D. programs through its five colleges: Business Administration, Liberal Arts, Engineering, Nursing, and Science.

Accreditation
UAH is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Many departments or programs also hold accreditation from professional associations, including the American Chemical Society, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technolology (ABET), the Computing Sciences Accreditation Board (CSAB), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), the Accreditation Council for Cooperative Education, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), National Association of Schools of Art and Design NASAD), and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
