What can I get?
Use one or more General Search Engines
- NCBI PubMed Search Engine (Arguably, The Best Search Engine. Has links to many free PDFs. (Has limited coverage of evolutionary and ecological journals.
- Science Direct Search Engine (A Pretty good engine, with direct links to the subscribed Elsevier PDFs)
- Highwire Search Engine --A Pretty good search engine with links to the Free PDFs.
- Medline FirstSearch Engine --A crippled PubMed interface that indicates UAH Print Subscriptions. Only works on campus.
- Cambridge Scientific Search Engine --An Okay engine, with lousy links. Might be good for Evolution and Ecology?
Where can I get it?
- Free PDFs: Use Highwire. Includes:
- Journal Bacteriolgy (6 month embargo)
- Journal of Biological Chemistry (6 mo embargo?)
- Molecular Microbiology (12 month embargo)
- PNAS (6 month embargo)
- UAH Print Subsriptions: Use FirstSearch--works only on the UAH campus. Includes:
- Cell
- Journal of Bacteriology
- Journal of Biological Chemistry
- Nature
- PNAS (except for an oopsy little gap in 2002).
- Science

- UAH Elsevier online subscriptions: Use Science Direct (Elsevier). Includes:
- FEMs Microbiology Letters
- Journal of Molecular Biology (since 2002)
- Trends in Microbiology
- UAH Wiley subscriptions: Use PubMed links or use Wiley InterScience. Includes:
- Other UAH online subscriptions?: Try EBSCO Search Engine. Includes Annual Review of Microbiology.
- None of the above?: Log in at Salmon Library, hit request and fill out a UAH Interlibrary Loan Form. Results may vary.
