The Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation program (LSAMP), supported by the National Science Foundation, was created to increase the quality and quantity of minority students completing undergraduate programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Subsequently, LSAMP works to assist participating students in a successful transition to graduate degree programs; particularly doctoral programs in underrepresented STEM fields.
As an enhancement to the undergraduate experience, UAH LSAMP participants partake in research activities, statewide conferences, and self/professional enhancement seminars. Scholars are expected to establish and maintain a working relationship with faculty, advisors, and fellow mentees through consistent educational pursuits.
