Baba Budha Eminent Scholar Chair in Global Understanding

REQUIREMENTS:  The Department of Political Science in the College of Liberal Arts invites applications for the Baba Budha Eminent Scholar Chair in Global Understanding.  This position is part of a broader strategic thrust by the University of Alabama in Huntsville to enhance global activities and partnerships and promote greater understanding of global issues by its students and in the broader community.

Candidates are expected to be at the mid-career to senior level and should have a focus in one or more of the following areas: Asian studies, Global Understanding, Effects of Globalization, Political Economy, Political Systems, and Policy Implications and should have specific expertise in Indian studies.   The candidate will be expected to create and teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses and seminars for students across the campus. 

The selected individual also will be expected to interact with a counterpart at a university in India and serve as a focal point for interaction for the university and broader community.  The Eminent Scholar will work closely with the Department Chair, Academic Deans, and Provost in enabling the University’s growth and stature in this area.

A Ph.D. is required and the position is available immediately. Salary is competitive and dependent on experience.  Women and minorities are strongly urged to apply.

PART-TIME INSTRUCTORS: Foreign Languages and Literatures

REQUIREMENTS: The University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for part-time, non-tenure-track instructors of foreign languages (especially Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish).  Requirements: MA or MS plus 18 graduate semester hours in foreign language or MA in foreign language; previous teaching experience desirable but not required.  Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in introductory and intermediate foreign language.  Salary is dependent on qualifications.  Reappointment is dependent upon need and a satisfactory review.  Review of completed applications is ongoing.  Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

REQUIREMENTS: The University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for part-time, non-tenure-track instructors of English as a Second Language. Requirements: MA in TESOL, ESL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field; previous teaching experience in secondary or postsecondary contexts desired.  Responsibilities include teaching courses in an intensive English language program context and other duties as assigned.  Salary is dependent on qualifications.  Reappointment is dependent upon need and a satisfactory review.  Review of completed applications is ongoing.
