The UAH Sociology scholarship was established in 2008 to benefit students enrolled at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. This scholarship is awarded based on academic merit to junior or senior students majoring in sociology. Minimum qualification is a cumulative GPA of 3.0 with preference to demonstrated financial need. This scholarship is renewable for one additional year.
Students eligible for the scholarship must maintain a full-time course load (12 credit hours) each semester. In addition, recipients must complete a total of 24 credit hours each academic year and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to be eligible for renewal.
To receive priority consideration for departmental scholarships for the 2011-2012 academic year, a student must be admitted to UAH and submit a UAH Scholarship Application to the Office of Student Financial Services no later than December 1, 2010. Although the deadline for priority consideration has passed, applications may be submitted at any time.
For more information on the application process and application forms, visit the UAH Scholarship website: finaid.uah.edu.
Students should submit a scholarship application every year in order to update their files and possibly be eligible for other awards. In addition, this scholarship may be cancelled or reduced if the recipient does not enroll full time, withdraws from classes, fails to attend for a semester or more, graduates, fails to meet the renewal criteria and/or does not maintain satisfactory academic progress.
Recipients should also understand that, by accepting this award, he/she is giving UAH permission to release directory information about the recipient for news and public affairs bulletins.
