Biographical Sketch
Nancy Finley has been at UAHuntsville since 1982. Her areas of specialty are Sociology of Gender, Marriage and Family, Feminist Theory, and Social Movements. She currently teaches Introduction to Sociology (SOC100), Marriage and Family (SOC206), Sociology of Childhood (SOC410), Sociology of Gender (306), and Introduction to Women's Studies (WS200). WS 200 is a required course for the Women's Studies minor and also counts toward the General Education Requirement for a 200-level humanities or social science course for Liberal Arts majors. Dr. Finley has done research related to social change in the family systems and is now working on a project involving the social construction of gender.
