All Master of Arts in English Programs share certain basic requirements (except as noted).
This program is designed for people who already have a Class B teaching certificate in English/ Language Arts and wish to pursue Class A certification. Requirements include 24 hours in graduate English courses (at least 18 in literature), the language requirement, a capstone project or thesis, and the following graduate Education courses:
- ED 604: Contributions of Psychology to Education
- ED 606: Principles of Curriculum Development or ED 530: Applied Multi-culturalism
- ED 607: Educator as Evaluator
- ED 520: Computer-Based Instructional Technologies or another instructional technology course
Students may also need ED 593: Education of Exceptional Children and Youth if they have not previously satisfied the Special Education requirement.
