In 2009-2011 Drs. Alana Frost and Dr. Philip Kovacs collaborated with Hazel Green High School English teacher Jennifer Taylor to implement an innovative project called the Emerging Scholars Project. The project, was aimed at using social networking sites and new media to help “at risk” students improve their literacy. The project was so successful that it was expanded to include all ninth grade English teachers and students the following year. Lockheed Martin donated 100 laptop computers to help support the innovation. To see more about this project, please check out the article posted on Al.com.
