The UAH Department of Art & Art History is located in Wilson Hall and Roberts Hall. Success in the arts requires the exploration of methods, technology, and equipment. We provide top-notch facilities so our graduates leave with the skills they need.
Design and Animation Labs
We do digital right at UAH! We have a dedicated lab for digital photography and video editing, a graphic design Mac lab filled with the latest technology, and an animation lab featuring high-end PCs with industry standard software.
Our printmaking studio, one of the best in the Southeast, is set up for students to make prints and artist books by hand. Students can screenprint, bind books and print woodcuts, etchings, and lithography on our four presses – we even have a press to print letterpress, artist books, broadsides and more.
From cyanotypes to digital photos, our photography program covers everything. Students can work in the computer lab, use their own darkroom, practice commercial photography in our lighting studio, as well as exploring historic processes.
Our sculpture area is equipped for traditional methods like carving and bronze casting as well as the latest digital technology like our 3D Printer and CNC router, and everything in between.
Painting and Drawing Studios
Painting and drawing students have plenty of room to work in our three large studios, and senior level students get their own individual workspaces.
