Dr. Torres has interests in behavioral endocrinology (hormones and behavior) in terms of stress and health and cardiovascular reactivity in the area of psychophysiological research. The Biopsychology Laboratory contains a Dinamap Vital Signs monitor for recording blood pressure and heart rate and a Biopac system to collect other physiological measures. We conduct basic research with the closest applied area of interest being health psychology. Our investigations can include collecting physiological measures related to stimuli that induce changes in emotion or stress responses. Other projects assess how participants respond to stimulus cues that are related to health behaviors.

Successful completion of biopsychology courses in addition to experimental psychology is required for working in this lab.
