Your Official UAHuntsville Email Address
Each term, i.t. solutions prepares official UAHuntsville email accounts for all students registered to attend classes at UAHuntsville. When your account has been created it will be listed under the "View Email Addresses" link under the "Personal Information" menu of Student Self-Service. It is important to note that your account will not be created until you have registered for classes. Once you have registered, simply sign on to Student Self-Service to see if your account has been created. If your account is listed, it is ready for your use.
UAHuntsville Email Account Login
Your UAHuntsville email account log-in is the text listed to the left of the "@" sign in your email address which is your Charger ID. Typically the format of your Charger ID consists of your initials followed by a 4 digit sequence number (e.g., 0001). Your account is case sensitive so be sure to enter it in "lower case" if you wish to configure your email client to read your UAHuntsville campus email account.
UAHuntsville Email Account Password
A temporary password has been assigned in order for you to access your new email account. If you do not know the default password, please contact the TAG Help Desk. You should change the default to a secure password that you will remember as soon as possible.
Your UAHuntsville (chargerid @ uah.edu) email is the official vehicle for communications. It is important that you check this address. If you would like to forward emails sent to this account to another address, please review these instructions to configure an account forward.
If you have forgotten your Password you will need to contact TAG (Help Desk) for assistance, or you may use the ITS User Services Portal and reset it.
Often it is convenient to have an email alias that is your name (first.last @ uah.edu). By default, new accounts are issued a firstname.lastname @ uah.edu alias. However, if you do not currently have an alias and would like to request one, or if you would like to request a different one than what was issued to you, please complete a request form using the ITS User Services Portal. After logging in, select the Email tab and complete and submit the form.
Supported Email Clients and Browsers:
The following email clients are supported by the i.t.solutions Technical Assistance Group (TAG) desk for Google Apps for Education:
- Microsoft Outlook for Windows versions 2003, 2007 and 2010
- Thunderbird for Windows (current release)
- Thunderbird for OSX (current release)
- Thunderbird for Linux (current release)
- Apple iMail for OSX (current release)
If you access Google Apps directly using a browser, be aware that Google supports the latest version of Google Chrome (which automatically updates whenever it detects that a new version of the browser is available) and the current and previous major releases of Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari on a rolling basis. Each time a new version is released, we begin supporting that version and stop supporting the third most recent version. For example, Windows 8 is being released with Internet Explorer 10, so IE8 is no longer supported by Google as of November 15, 2012.
Alumni Email Accounts:
If you are an account holder of an alumni email account (username @ alumni.uah.edu) and would like to have your email migrated from your uah.edu accout to your alumni.uah.edu account, please refer to the instructions for Google Apps - Migrating Between Accounts.
