Getting Started For New Researchers

This section is designed to bring together IT related information and resources for researchers at UAHuntsville. We want to hear your ideas and suggestions of what should be on this page. Please email us with your feedback.

3. Accounts

Self-Service Banner

You will use your Banner ID to log in to Self-Service Banner, or SSB.

-Complete FERPA Training (This is required for all faculty/staff with access to educational records.)

Google Apps

Google Applications for Education is used for your official UAH email account. UAH students and staff are provided with a G-Mail account, and also have access to other useful applications, such as Calendar and Documents. You will log in to Google Apps by using your Charger ID at google.uah.edu or by using your official email address (chargerid@uah.edu) at google.com.

ChargerNet

ChargerNet is a portal site that contains links to helpful information, as well as direct links to all your UAH accounts. Once you have signed into ChargerNet (using your Charger ID), you will have access to Banner and Email.

4. Password Management

ITS User Services Portal

This tool allows you to change your Charger ID password and manage your Google Apps account.

5. Anti-Virus Software

Up-to-date anti-virus software is required to access Internet on the UAH campus.

• TAG provides free anti-virus software through McAfee. Find out more.
• If you are a faculty or staff member, antivirus is kept up-to-date automatically with EPO Agent.
• If you are a student, download the latest version of McAfee.

6. Wireless

• How to Log-in to UAH Wireless
• Wireless Quick Start Guides are available for all operating systems.
• You will need to get the passkey for wireless access. Use your Charger ID to log-in and view the passkeys.
