UAH has taken the lead in forming the Huntsville High Performance Network Group. This organization sponsors regular monthly meetings and is attended by representatives of NASA, AMCOM, SSDC, AREN, and the City of Huntsville. UAH has acted as an information and technology broker for this group. These meetings have served as a way of exchanging information and as a means for planning the manner in which cooperation should take place among these agencies in their NGI efforts. The group has focused on the vision, policies, technologies and applications for high performance networks, as well as the possibility of providing peering among the local high performance connection including vBNS, NREN, and DREN.
