Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing
16 Years of Service

• Explain briefly your responsibility to train a new generation of nurses.
I have enjoyed teaching over the past 16 plus years at the undergraduate and graduate level. As a teacher, you also learn from your students. Being a teacher in the health care field brings a certain type of responsibility. With the shortage of nurses today, it is important to instill in your students the value of what a nurse can bring to each patient no matter where they are employed.

• Fondest campus memories?
My fondest campus memory was receiving the UAH Foundation Teaching Award, I was so surprised and very grateful for that special recognition. I was also very grateful to receive a $10,000 state award the Nursing Education Scholarship to further my education. And, I have to say that our annual pinning ceremony is one of my favorite events in the College.

• Favorite movie?
I haven't read many books since being in school full time except for school material. My favorite movie of all time is Gone With The Wind.

• What's your secret for juggling your various commitments?
I love to work out and attempt yoga (stress relief) in whatever spare time is available.
