The UAH Alpha Tau Omega fraternity recently presented a $19,500 check to the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation. Every year the fraternity sponsors the "Battle of the Buffalo" fundraiser in memory their brother Paul "Fish" Salmon, who died of leukemia in 2007.

UAH Headlines is a weekly electronic news and information service for UAH faculty and staff. Information or announcements submitted for consideration will be subject to editing.

To submit an item, please send all information to headlines@uah.edu by 5 PM, on Wednesday before the Monday distribution.

To receive consideration, items and events:
- Should have broad, campus-wide appeal.
- Should be open to all faculty and staff and important to the campus community.
- Must be held on the UAH campus.
- Announcements of off-campus events can be published only if there is a strong University connection.
- Under no circumstances will commercial activities be posted.

As a rule, announcements will not be repeated unless they are deemed by the Office of Marketing and Communications to be of significant importance to the campus community as to outweigh other considerations.

Society of Women Engineers: Sweethearts Social

» Von Braun Student Poster Competition, Deadline Sept. 11
Faculty, researchers and staff are encouraged to inspire student researchers to compete for prizes by submitting an abstract for the eighth annual Wernher von Braun Memorial Symposium Student Poster Competition (abstract deadline is Sept. 11). The symposium will be held in Huntsville Oct. 27-29, 2015. Current students can also apply for free registration to the symposium. » OMA Hispanic Heritage Month Event
In Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Office of Multicultural Affairs will be presenting Los Valientes, (The Courageous Ones), a live music theatre work for singing actor and onstage music trio of cello, piano and percussion. The event will be based on the lives of three heroic Latinos, the show celebrates Mexican painter Diego Rivera, martyred Salvadoran Archbishop Oscar Romero, and Mexican-American outlaw Joaquin Murrieta. The interactive workshop/performance by the Core Ensemble will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 11:10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Conference Training Center (formerly the University Center Exhibit Hall.) The evening performance will begin at 7:30 p.m.

» Department of Art, Art History & Design Co-hosts Art Show
The art exhibition: "Precarious: The Dangerous Practice of Uncertainty," on view through Sept. 19, in the Union Grove Gallery.
