ChargerCon

We take our gaming seriously here at UAH. Each semester, our Student Run eSports club sponsors ChargerCon, a gaming convention (with its foundation in UAH’s earlier LAN parties) that attracts upwards of 1,000 participants. Covering a broad range of genres, from tabletop gaming and engineering to anime and comics, this popular event also includes an exhibitor area, a costume contest, workshop sessions, and guest speakers. ChargerCon is free and open to the public, and takes place in our NEW Charger Union E-Gaming Lounge.

Charger Sports & Recreation

Just like our fight song says, we have pride in our Blue and White! Not only do we have 18 NCAA sports teams, but UAH is home to the only Division I ice hockey team in the South! We're also excited to welcome our new men and women's lacrosse teams to the Charger Nation! More casual players, meanwhile, will appreciate our intramural sports program, which includes dodgeball, flag football, and ultimate Frisbee, among many others. And for those who prefer cheering to playing? Consider joining the Chargerettes Dance Team or the UAH Cheerleaders!

Mars Rover Team

Inspired by the first lunar rover to traverse the moon’s surface, the NASA-hosted Great Moonbuggy Race, now called the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge, brings almost 100 high school and college teams together to see who can build the fastest vehicle. Each buggy must complete a half-mile race littered with obstacles simulating lunar rocks, ridges, craters, and inclines.

Study Abroad

If you see yourself sipping a latte in a Paris café or walking down the sunny streets of Seville, then welcome to UAH’s Global Studies Program. We have several faculty-led courses that begin with instruction on campus and conclude with a multi-week study abroad component. We also have summer courses offering intensive, immersive instruction in France, Spain, and Germany. And our affiliation with University Studies Abroad Consortium allows you to study abroad and earn transfer credit in more than two dozen countries.

Theme Communities

Making friends is integral to the college experience. So why not get started from day one? Two of our first-year residence halls have theme communities that allow residents to live and interact with others who share their interests. At Central Campus, you’ll find Engineering and Leadership, while at Frank Franz you’ll find Honors.
