Giving Questions

At UAH, we believe that there are compelling reasons for every one of our alumni and friends to give when the time is right.

Make a gift! When you give, you will have choices to make:

1) Where should your gift go?
You can designate your gift to a specific college, department, or program. Or, you can give an unrestricted gift for UAH to use for its greatest needs.

2) What type of gift should you make?
There are many ways to give, including some that provide great financial benefits to you and your family. Your gifts to UAH may take many forms:

- Gifts of Cash may be made by check, money order, electronic bank draft, wire transfer, or credit card.

- Marketable securities may be sent or transferred to UAH by contacting the UAH Foundation.

- Real estate may be given after approval by the university. Details are available from the UAH Foundation.

- Other assets, such as tangible personal property, may also be given to UAH under certain conditions that can be described by the UAH Foundation.

- Life insurance policies may be given to UAH with certain restrictions.

- Planned or deferred gifts such as charitable trusts, life income gifts, or bequests are increasingly popular forms of giving. These gifts may provide tax advantages and income to donors. Those interested in considering such gifts should contact Dr. J. Derald Morgan of UAH at 256-824-6127, as well as their own financial adviser.

- Matching gifts, employee contributions matched by employers, are an important source of UAH income. Although these gifts must be initiated by donors, the UAH Foundation can provide information on firms that match.

3) How will you get involved with UAH?
Whether or not you make a financial gift, there are numerous volunteer opportunities at UAH that provide you a way to get involved and help UAH at the same time.

4) How will we recognize your gift?
We are proud of our supporters and have identified giving clubs and other forms or recognition to say thank you.

5) How can you make a gift?
You can write us, send us an e-mail, or make a gift online -- whatever is easiest for you!
