Fall 2013 Merit Awards for Alabama Residents*
UAHuntsville recognizes incoming first-time freshmen who have demonstrated superior academic achievement in high school through a variety of merit scholarships. Only admitted students with qualifying high school GPAs and ACT/SAT scores are eligible. Unless otherwise noted, all awards are annually renewable based on academic performance and progress guidelines. Priority consideration is given to students who submit the Application for Admission and Scholarship Application by February 1.
*This includes residents of Alabama and the following Tennessee counties: Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Giles, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marshall, Moore and Marion.
Charger Excellence Award
An incoming freshman student who has a 4.0+ cumulative High School GPA and a 34-36 ACT or 1490-1600 SAT (CR+M only) will receive a four-year Charger Excellence Award of up to $37,000 towards tuition charges, an on-campus housing allowance of up to $26,000, and a one-time technology stipend of $500.
Charger Distinction Award
An incoming freshman student who has a 4.0+ cumulative High School GPA and a 30-33 ACT or 1330-1480 SAT (CR+M only) will receive a four-year Charger Distinction Award of up to $37,000 towards tuition charges and one-time technology stipend of $500.
An incoming freshman student who has a 3.5-3.99 cumulative High School GPA and a 30-36 ACT or 1330-1600 SAT (CR+M only) will receive a four-year Charger Distinction Award of up to $37,000 towards tuition charges and one-time technology stipend of $500.
Charger Scholar Award
An incoming freshman student who has a 4.0+ cumulative High School GPA and a 28-29 ACT or 1250-1320 SAT (CR+M only) will receive a four-year Charger Scholar Award of $18,000.
An incoming freshman student who has a 4.0+ cumulative High School GPA and a 25-27 ACT or 1130-1240 SAT (CR+M only) will receive a four-year Charger Scholar Award of $16,000.
An incoming freshman student who has a 3.5-3.99 cumulative High School GPA and a 28-29 ACT or 1250-1320 SAT (CR+M only) will receive a four-year Charger Scholar Award of $14,000.
An incoming freshman student who has a 3.5-3.99 cumulative High School GPA and a 25-27 ACT or 1130-1240 SAT (CR+M only) will receive a four-year Charger Scholar Award of $13,200.
Charger Achievement Award
An incoming freshman student who has a 3.0-3.49 cumulative GPA and a minimum 25 ACT or 1130 SAT (CR+M only) will receive a four-year Charger Achievement award of $12,800.

A: Charger Distinction Award covers up to $9250 in annual tuition charges, and offers an additional one-time $500 technology stipend
B: Charger Excellence Award covers up to $9250 in annual tuition charges and up to $6500 in an annual on-campus housing allowance; there is also an additional, one-time $500 technology stipend
Note: Scholarships are four-year awards, renewable each year based on full-time student status and satisfactory academic progress. Any unused amounts cannot be applied to a future award year.
