UAH offers several scholarship opportunities for students who have demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence and the potential for achieving even greater success as a UAH student. The eligibility requirements for the scholarship awards vary and are outlined below.
Merit Tuition Scholarships
Deadline for Priority Consideration: June 1
Merit tuition scholarships are available to all admitted first-time freshmen who meet specified academic criteria. Students who submit an Application for Admission, official transcripts, and standardized test scores are automatically eligible for consideration. No separate scholarship application is required.
*This includes residents of Alabama and the following Tennessee counties: Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Giles, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marshall, Moore and Marion.

Departmental awards are competitive scholarships made available to students through the generosity of alumni and friends of the University. Student eligibility is based on a variety of criteria, including academic interests and achievements, special talents, and demonstrated leadership. The UAH Scholarship Application is used to determine eligibility for all departmental awards, and should be submitted by December 1 for priority consideration.

* Once a scholarship application has been submitted, changes other than editing or re-sending email requests for letters of recommendation cannot be made to the online application. Applicants should contact the Office of Student Financial Services for additional updates.
National Merit Awards
Platinum Award of Academic Distinction
Students who are selected as National Merit Finalists, National Achievement Finalists, or National Merit Hispanic Scholars qualify for the Platinum Award of Academic Distinction. This 4-year award is valued at full tuition (up to 16 credit hours per semester), and also includes a $500 course fee stipend, $500 book stipend, an on-campus housing allowance, and a meal plan allowance. Renewal is based on satisfactory academic progress and full-time student status.
Gold Award of Academic Distinction
Students who are selected as National Merit or National Achievement Semi-Finalists qualify for the UAH Gold Award of Academic Distinction. This 4-year award is valued at full tuition (up to 16 credit hours per semester), a $500 course fee stipend and a $500 book stipend. Renewal is based on satisfactory academic progress and full-time student status.
These awards replace any UAH Merit Award of equal or lesser value.
UAH Foundation Presidential Scholarship
The UAH Foundation Presidential Scholarship is based upon academic merit and awarded each year to select incoming first-time freshmen graduating from public high schools located in Huntsville/Madison County, Alabama. This 4-year award is valued at full tuition (up to 16 credit hours per semester) for four years plus $500 toward course fees per year. Eligible candidates must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 in addition to a minimum ACT score of 25 or minimum SAT score of 1130. Candidates should submit a UAH Scholarship Application and a UAH Admission Application by the December 1 priority consideration date. Students must also be recommended by either their high school counselor and/or a UAH admissions counselor. Renewal is based on satisfactory academic progress and full-time student status.
These awards replace any UAH Merit Tuition Scholarship of equal or lesser value.
