WHEREAS, the grade of ‘NC’ (No Credit) is designed to take the place of a failing grade, allowing a student to repeat a course without negatively impacting the student’s academic progress; and

WHEREAS, some academic departments at UAH are considering implementing an NC grade option for introductory courses; and

WHEREAS, there is currently no limit to the number of times students may repeat a course after receiving an NC grade; and

WHEREAS, for some students, excessive course repeats may constitute a waste of time and money;

by the faculty senate that: The University of Alabama in Huntsville stipulate that if a student receives an NC grade twice for the same course, the student must obtain permission from the department offering that course before registering for it again.
