We will have a discussion of the upcoming 2017 August 21 total solar eclipse with K-5 teachers. Topics include the formation of eclipses, the structure of the solar atmosphere, the scientific results that can be gleaned from these events, and safe viewing practices for elementary school classrooms in the northern Alabama area. 

This is part of the Institute for Science Education's AMSTI Summer Professional Development Program.
