The UAH Mathematical Sciences Colloquium Series presents Dr. Jia Li with his talk "Mathematical Modeling of Interactive Wild and Sterile Mosquitoes - Fighting Malaria".

In this talk, we give a brief introduction to biological measures in controlling of mosquitoes, but our focus is on the application of the sterile insect technique. Several mathematical models with homogeneous or stage-structured populations for the interactive wild and sterile mosquitoes are formulated and studied. We consider different strategies for the releases of sterile mosquitoes, including impulsive releases, in these models. We investigate and compare the impacts of different strategies of the releases. We also outline how the mosquito models are incorporated into malaria transmission models.

Refreshments will be served at 2:30 p.m. in SC 201 suite landing.
