Spring Commencement Ceremony

The Spring Commencement ceremony is held at the end of the Spring semester in May. Commencement will be held in the Von Braun Center on Sunday, May 11, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. The Von Braun Center will open for guests attending at 1:00 p.m. Students should arrive no later than 1:00 p.m. and report to the designated student assembly area. Guests, family members and spouses are not permitted in the assembly or robing areas and should go directly to the arena.

Who Can Participate in Spring Commencement?

Candidates who may participate in the Spring Commencement include:

  1. Students who completed all degree requirements during Summer 2007 and who did NOT participate in the Fall 2007 Commencement Ceremony.
  2. Students who completed all degree requirements during Fall 2007 and who did NOT participate in the Fall 2007 Commencement Ceremony.
  3. Students who have completed all degree requirements during Spring 2008.
  4. Students who have applied for graduation summer semester and received special approval to "walk early."

Students have a choice of participating in either the Spring 2008 Commencement on May 11 at the von Braun Center or the Fall 2008 Commencement on December 14, 2008, but not both!

 

Students participating in the Spring Commencement ceremony must notify the Registrar's Office no later than April 4, 2008 to be eligible to participate in the ceremony.

Summer 2008 Undergraduate Candidates interested in participating in the Spring 2008 Commencement ceremony must receive special approval to participate, this option is not available for Master and PhD students. To receive special approval, the undergraduate student must complete a "Request to March" form and meet university requirements concerning such request. The "Request to March" form is available through Charger Central, University Center room 118 beginning April 7, 2008. The completed form must be returned to Charger Central no later than May 1, 2008 to be eligible for the 2008 Spring Commencement. Undergraduate students exercising this option will be notified by email of the final decision regarding approval/disapproval of Request to March.

What to do if you plan to participate in Commencement
Summer 2007 and Fall 2007 degree recipients who did not attend the Fall commencement ceremony are invited to participate in the Spring 2008 Commencement ceremony. In addition, students who complete ALL degree requirements during Spring 2008 may participate. In order to participate, you must inform the Office of the Registrar well in advance of the ceremony. The last day to notify the Office of the Registrar is April 4, 2008. You will have an opportunity to do so during Grad Finale (link). Students who do not attend Grad Finale will receive notification and a reply card in the mail, which can be used to indicate whether or not you will participate in commencement. Only students who have notified the Office of the Registrar that they will be attending will be allowed to participate in the Spring Commencement ceremony. A Candidate for Graduation who did not notify the Registrar's Office of their intent to participate in the Spring commencement by April 4, 2008 is not eligible to participate in the ceremony.
