Aunt Lute Books - this small non-profit multicultural women's press in San Francisco has  been publishing writing by women for over twenty years. They publish Gloria Anzaldúa and are the publishers of Audre Lorde's Cancer Journals (1980 and 1997), including a special edition of Cancer Journals with tributes to Audre Lorde, as well as six photographs of her.

Calyx Press - a nonprofit literary publisher committed to publishing works of feminist, literary, social, and artistic integrity and to keeping books in print.

EdgeWork Books - an alternative press founded by writers in 2001-02.  Forthcoming in November 2002 is Sing, Whisper, Shout, Pray!: Feminist Visions for a Just World, collected essays, stories and poetry edited by M. Jacqui Alexander, Lisa Albrecht, Sharon Day and Mab Segrest.   "We're trying to be the press we've been waiting for. We want to be part of the decentralization and democratization of the publishing industry -- the structures that support it, the people who run it, and the work it produces."  

Feminist Press - "a not-for-profit, mission driven press that seeks to break new ground, build new markets, and transform consciousness through our publishing and educational programs" (from spring 2002 catalog).  This press has been a  leader since 1970 in recovering and reprinting "lost" women writers such as Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Dorothy Bryant, Rebecca Harding David, Dorothy West, and Elizabeth Stuart Phelps.

Firebrand Books - it's back!  After being sold to their distributor, LPC Group, which then started notifying authors that they would be going out of print, Firebrand Books has been purchased by a self-described fan, Karen Oosterhous, a marketing and publicity professional, as described in this Publisher's Weekly story.

Justice House Publishing, Inc.- website describes this as "an innovative publishing house dedicated to bringing outstanding novels and other works of fiction to the lesbian community."  Offers online ordering, manuscript submission guidelines, and links to lots of online greeting cards.

New Victoria Publishers  - Order online lesbian feminist books.  "A nonprofit literary and cultural organization producing the finest in lesbian feminist fiction and nonfiction since 1976. We publish the Stoner McTavish Mystery series by Sarah Dreher as well as other mysteries, fiction, short fictions and herstory."  1-800-326-5297

Salmon Press - the main publishers of poetry by women in Ireland.

Spinifex Press - Excellent Australian feminist press, online since 1995, and the only remaining feminist press still actively publishing in Australia.

Spinsters Ink - Feminist publisher "committed to publishing works by women writing from the periphery: fat women, Jewish women, lesbians, old women, poor women, rural women, women examining classism, women of color, women with disabilities, women who are writing books that help make the best in our lives more possible."  Provides online catalog.
