Dr. Mark W. Lin Associate Professor, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Biography Dr. Lin received his M.S. in Engineering Mechanics in 1987 and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 1993 both from Virginia Tech. He then served as Assistant Professor in Engineering at Clark Atlanta University and joined University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2000. He is currently Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at UAH. His research interests include development of smart actuation and sensing systems, structural integrity monitoring of composite material systems and large engineering structures, characterization and engineering application of smart material systems, and theoretical and finite element modeling of hygro-thermo-mechanical response of composite materials. Dr. Lin has conducted several research projects sponsored by DoD, NASA, and DARPA. He has developed a prototype of electrical time domain reflectometry (ETDR) distributed strain sensor for health monitoring application of large concrete civil structures.
