Electrical & Computer Engineering
1998 Ph.D. Electrical Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Prof. Junpeng Guo earned a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 1998. At UIUC, he made the first thin film micropolarizer array. Thin film micropolarizer arrays now are widely used for 3D TV displays and polarimetric imaging. Dr. Guo worked as a Research Scientist at the former Rockwell International Science Center in Thousand Oaks, California and as a Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, New Mexico. He also held a Research Scholar position with the Fitzpatrick Center for Photonics at the Duke University. Dr. Guo joined the faculty of the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2005. Now he is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and a Professor of Optical Science and Engineering. Prof. Guo received an Alan Berman Research Publication Award at NRL in 2013, an ASEE-Air Force Office of Scientific Research Summer Faculty Fellowship in 2010, and an ASEE-Naval Research Office Summer Faculty Fellowship in 2011. He was also the sole recipient of the College of Engineering Outstanding Junior Faculty Award in 2007. Prof. Guo is a senior member of OSA (Optical Society of America) and a senior member of the SPIE (The International Society for Optical Engineering).
