Sample Status Report Memo

A report of this kind is required from each group project member. It counts in calculating the individual portion of the project grade.

SUBJECT:     Individual Progress on Acme Inventory Project

This is a report of my progress in our project. I am working in a group with Corey Knight and Rick Meander to answer the question, which is the best inventory system for Acme Novelty Inc. Enclosed is our updated task schedule, showing that we are on schedule. This memo discusses what my contributions have been to the project so far and assesses how I think our group is working out.

My Contributions

Our group divided the main topics to be covered in the report and assigned one topic to each of the four group members. My topic is Just in Time (JIT) inventory control. So far, I have completed all tasks on time and I am ahead of schedule. Our first task was to locate sources, and I had no problems at all. I invested in a book that gives information on JIT, as well as inventory management generally. Along with the book, I also have six journal articles, one of which has a very good table that I believe we will use in our report.

Our second task was writing the proposal. I wrote the "Audience and Purpose" section of the proposal, and when I had finished, I gave the disk to Corey. He merged all of our parts to create the proposal. Our third task was preparing individual outlines for the report. While I was preparing my outline, I also went ahead and did my rough draft. Writing the draft was easy. Most of my information came from the book I mentioned earlier. Our latest task as a group was to write the interim report. We met and discussed what we had completed, and then Rick typed the report.

Group Assessment

Our group works very well together. If there are any problems, I do not know of them. We get along well, and I feel that we will continue to do so. This has been one of the best groups I have ever worked in; everyone carries his or her load and finishes the work on time. Our schedules are compatible, so we have been able to meet weekly, and I have been able to attend all but one of these meetings.

Conclusion

I feel that we have progressed very well. We should be finished with our document ahead of schedule, so we will have plenty of time to work on our oral presentation.
