You can build a style sheet before you begin working, or you can create it as you go. Style sheets make your online Help system easy to maintain by allowing you to make global changes in seconds.
From the RoboHelp menu bar, choose
Format | Styles...
The Styles dialog box
opens.
Select New... from the buttons at the bottom of the dialog box.
Complete the fields in the New Style dialog box as follows:
Type the
name of the new style in the Name
field.
Tip! Create a custom naming convention for your styles
that is no more than three characters in length. This makes it easy to
select styles for use. Some style names you may want to use are P for
Paragraph, B1 for bullets (indented at .25"), B2 for bullets (indented
at .5"), S1 for numbered procedural steps (indented at .25"),
etc.
In the Style type field, select Character if you are creating a style for character formatting (bold, italic, etc.); otherwise, leave it set to Paragraph.
The style you choose in the Based on field should be the same for every style in your style sheet. This sets your font type and size (e.g., Arial 10). If you base all styles on one control style, you can make global changes to the font that will affect all paragraph styles. You can use the Normal style as your control and make changes to it as needed.
In the Style for following paragraph field, select the style that is most likely to occur after this style. For example, if you are creating a numbered list, you may want an indented response statement to follow each numbered item. You should create a style for the response statement first and then have it follow the numbered list style.
Apply formatting
to your style by clicking the Format
button at the bottom of the dialog box and choosing one of the following
options from the menu: Font, Paragraph, Borders
and Shading, Dynamic HTML Effects,
Bullets and Numbering.
When the corresponding dialog box appears, press F1
to open the RoboHelp online Help file and read more about how to configure
these formats.
