Current research of the Precision and Ultrafast Laser Science group at UAH centers around an ultrafast fiber laser that can produce highly stable femtosecond pulses at a very high repetition rate. Specific research topics include supercontinuum and optical frequency comb as well as their applications in clock distribution, optical sensing and LIDAR technologies. The group currently has more than 1000 sq ft of lab space in the Optics Building on UAH campus and a range of sophisticated testing instruments. It also enjoys the convenient access to the optics fabrication facility of the Center for Applied Optics (CAO) and the 7,600 sq. ft. clean room facility of the Nano and Micro Device Center (NMDC) located in the same building.
