Welcome to the world of PULS!

Led by Dr. Lingze Duan, Assistant Professor of Physics, the PULS at UAHuntsville consists of a group of people who are fascinated by the intriguing nature of light. Our program enjoys the state-of-the-art optics research facilities at UAHuntsville and proximity to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, Army's Redstone Arsenal, Cummings Research Park, and other high-tech institutions/companies in the greater Huntsville area. Members of PULS come from different cultural backgrounds but share the same passion toward science.Together, we seek deeper understanding and greater control of light. We also position ourselves as part of the community and strive to service the northern Alabama region through various channels.

NEWS UPDATE

Oct 20, 2011 - Dr. Jinsong Nie has joined PULS as a visiting scholar from University of Science and Technology of China. He will be conducting research on remote transfer of precision clock signals through free-space and fiber-optic links.
July 2, 2011 - The FC-1500-250 Optical Frequency Synthesizer has been installed at the new Femtosecond Laser Frequency Comb Lab located in the Optics Building. It is among the very few such laser systems currently running in the US and will be used for studying atmospheric transmission of ultrastable clock signals and precision spectroscopy. More information can be found at www.frequencycomb.com.

May 20, 2011 - PULS has received the FC1500-250 Optical Frequency Synthesizer from Menlo Systems Inc. The $285k laser system is the main component in the NSF-MRI project.
