What is a Crisis?
Crises generally involve a situation in which someone’s safety is at risk (oftentimes a potentially life-or-death situation). In any circumstance in which you believe your safety or the safety of someone else is in danger, treat it as a crisis and seek help IMMEDIATELY!
° Suicidal or homicidal gestures or attempts are crisis
situations. Persistent thoughts about death or specific
ideas on ways to hurt self or others should be treated
as crisis situations.
° If someone you know is suddenly acting very differ-
ent from usual and doesn’t seem to be making any
sense at all, this may be an emergency. To be safe,
seek help immediately.
° If you have been physically attacked (mugging, sex-
ual assault, etc), seek help immediately.
Please feel free to consult with us if you are not sure how to handle a situation.
