Students on the traditional alternating Co-op plan coordinate a minimum of three professional, full-time work assignments consisting of one semester in length (15-17 work weeks) with three full-time school terms.
Students rotate between work and school every other term. While on work terms, alternating students are able to work 40 dedicated hours for their employer.
Parallel is a part-time Co-op option in which students simultaneously attend part-time classes and work part-time at the Co-op assignment. Parallel Co-ops work multiple terms, and must complete at least three consecutive assignments prior to graduation.
- 15-20 hours of work per week
- Parallel is designed for students to take a reduced class load
- Undergraduate students take up to three classes each term
- Graduate students take six-nine hours of academic credit each term
Professional practice is a one-term assignment for students who cannot work multiple terms
- Short-term assignments, up to one semester in length
- Supervised work assignments providing professional experience. Professional practice Co-ops are monitored by supervisors in the same capacity as the other options within Co-op
