We recommend that any employer interested in Co-op view the workshop, which provides more details about the integral relationship between Co-op Employers, students, and the UAH Co-op Office.

Step 1 - Initiate the Hiring Process

  • Read The Origin, our Co-op Employer newsletter. It explains the Co-op Program and provides list of majors.

  • Complete the Co-op Employer Vacancy Form and return it to the Co-op Office by email, fax or regular mail. Please complete the entire form, including the job description. The UAH Co-op staff has final approval on all Co-op positions.

  • When we receive the completed Vacancy Form, we will contact you via phone or email to discuss your Co-op opportunities. We would prefer to meet with new employers in person prior to application referral. When Co-op jobs have been developed, we will mail you the student's application packets. Each packet includes the student application, cover letter, resume, and transcripts. Review these documents and decide whom you wish to interview.

Step 2 - Request Interviews

  • When you have selected candidates to be interviewed,
  • contact the Co-op Office by:
    Phone - (256) 824-6741
    Email - coop@uah.edu

  • Please provide the following:
    1. Point of contact
    2. Available dates and times
    3. Interviewer's name
    4. Length of the interview
    5. Company address, including directions from the UAH direction

  • We will schedule interviews for you. Most of our employers interview students at the job site, but if you prefer, we can provide facilities for you to interview on campus.

Step 3 - After the Interview

  • When you have decided to extend job offers, please complete and submit the Employment Offer Form to the Co-op Office. Make sure to complete the entire form fully. When we receive the offer, we will contact the selected student. All students have two full business days after the offer is made to make a decision.

Salary Guidelines

  • The Salary Survey provides general guidelnes for Co-op employers. Variances occur based on company size, classification, location, etc. Most employers use the Salary Conversion equation to determine Co-op salaries.
