The current project is digestion of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) with the enzyme cellulase. Although the use of enzyme for recyling is not a new con cept, the reuse of the enzyme is. The main object is to maintain the purity and activity of the enzyme during its reuse. Pretreatment of the solid by steam classification and acid treatment, digestion of the MSW with the enzyme, recovery of the enzyme by the use of ultrafilters, determination of the glucose and the activity by the use of glucose analyzer, and finally ethanol conversion is the scheme of current work. This project is being funded by Abscore.
