Dr. Wilkerson joined the UAH faculty in 1997.   He has interests in philosophy of mind and contemporary continental philosophy. He has also done research in political philosophy (particularly Marxism), feminism, and gay and lesbian studies. These separate fields come together for him in studying the relation between being embodied and being human. His course in feminist philosophy, PHL 335, is required for the Women's Studies minor.  This course examines oppression and sexism, the relation between biology and culture in creating womanhood, the intersection of multiple identities, like race, gender and sexuality, and the place of the body in gendered experience.
