2000 Rachel Sellnow

Psychology senior Rachel Sellnow was this year's recipient of the Kathryn L. Harris Scholarship in Women's Studies, an endowed fund limited to students minoring in Women's Studies.  Rachel serves as Vice President of the Women's Studies Student Organization,  President of Psi Chi Psychology Honorary Society, Secretary of the Sociology Club, and has been a Helpline volunteer.  In spring 2000, she helped organize and fundraise so that she and five other UAH students could attend Feminist Expo 2000 in Baltimore.  After graduation this December, she plans to get married and move to the Washington, DC area, where she will work with rape crisis centers and write books for young adults.  

1999 RaDonna Ridner

Sociology senior RaDonna Ridner  was the first recipient of the Kathryn L. Harris scholarship.  RaDonna was very active in UAH activities, serving as a Lancer, an officer in the Women's Studies Student Organization, and a leader in many school and community activities. She served on the Friends of Women’s Studies Board, as secretary of the Women’s Studies Student Organization, and as a volunteer in the Women’s Studies Resource Center. In the community, she volunteered for the Children’s Advocacy Center, Crisis Center Helpline, Churches United for the People, and the AIDS Action Coalition AIDS Care Team.  She was a team captain for the Cystic Fibrosis Walk-A-Thon, organized a group harvest for CASA (Care & Assurance for the Aging & Homebound), and co-organized a "Take Back the Night" event and silent auction at UAH, benefitting a rape crisis center.

RaDonna is a 1995 graduate of Coffee County Central High School.  She graduated from UAH in December 1999, and plans to go on to graduate study in Sociology.
