Last summer, senior UAH art major Jennifer Landis curated an exhibition at the Union Grove Gallery at UAH displaying a variety of art works exploring ideas of mothering and fertility.  “Nurturing Women” was the title of the show and the theme of a quilt created as the centerpiece for this group exhibition. The quilt was a special project of the UAH Art Club, and was the work of over 18 artists, mothers, and women skilled in the traditional craft of quilt-making.  They worked together for more than three months to make a quilt expressing the theme of “Nurturing Women.” Participants ranged from 12 to 54 years old. The quilt exhibits a variety of types of human representation in fabric-based art and explores women’s richly diverse experiences of mothering and fertility.

The quilt was awarded as a fundraiser prize during the Third Wave Feminism Mini-Conference, with the drawing held Wednesday night, March 28, at Jennifer Baumgardner and Amy Richards' public lecture at Chan Auditorium.
