PHL 303 Contemporary Philosophy

Usual instructors: Dr. Craig Hanks, Dr. Bill Wilkerson

The major objective of this course is to foster a capacity to grasp both sympathetically and critically what is read and heard.  The component of this course relevant to women's studies depends on the instructor.  In Dr. Hanks' course, described here, feminist critiques are integrated throughout the body of the course.  In addition, during the final portion of the semester, contemporary feminist critiques of and responses to themes raised throughout the semester will be addressed. Recommended and required secondary sources often pursue Women's Studies and feminist perspectives raised in the primary texts.

This may count as the elective in the Women's Studies minor.
