Pasty Hawkins grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina, and received her B.S. in English from East North Carolina University. She has taught junior and
senior high school English, GED classes and theatre classes. Patsy is currently
secretary for Theatre Huntsville. She has been seen in productions for
Huntsville Little Theatre (HLT), Theatre Huntsville, Lee Deal Productions,
Twickenham Repertory Company (TRC), Theatre ‘Round the Corner (TRTC), and
Whole Stage. In 1994 Patsy won HLT’s Best Supporting Actress award for her
performance in HLT’s A Piece of My Heart. She shared this award with
Freda Grant. In 1997 Patsy, who is half Lumbee Indian and half German, won HLT’s
Best Actress award and a Wings award for Best Actress in a Play without Music
for her portrayal of the blond Norwegian Marta Hansen (Mama) in HLT’s
production of I Remember Mama. At the age of 43 Patsy says she had the
"opportunity" to be diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast
cancer. Now 14 years cancer free Patsy says that the cancer lifted the veil that
had clouded her authentic self.
