| Students Plan Travel to National Women Student Leaders Conference | |
|
Six UAHuntsville students were selected to serve on the state Student Advisory Council of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). They will attend the AAUW National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) in College Park, Maryland, June 5-7. Women's Studies invites community support for sending these students to the national conference. Approximately half of their expenses have been covered by the Huntsville branch of AAUW. Women’s Studies is supplementing those funds, and we are now trying to raise the last $500 through campus and community fundraisers. In the past, students who have attended have gained great leadership skills. The students attending this year will be presenting the knowledge gained from the trip in a campus forum later this year. If you’ve been thinking of making a tax-deductible donation to Women’s Studies in any amount, this is a good time to do it! The SAC members are: Melissa Cavins, Psychology major, Theatre Cognate minor, senior; Veronica Ferreira, History/Sociology major, Women’s Studies minor, senior; Sara Martin, Psychology major, Sociology minor, senior; Sara Jo Taylor, Chemical Engineering major, junior; Brenda Taylor-Moody, Psychology major, Studio Art minor, junior; Wyndi Turner, Sociology major, Women's Studies minor, junior.
