As a counselor to Arthur Levitt, Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC, Cheryl Williams Scarboro keeps a close eye on the nation's securities industry.
Scarboro joined the Commission five years ago as a Senior Counsel in the Division of Enforcement, building litigation for cases from the ground up. Now she advises Levitt on enforcement matters and a variety of policy issues within the securities industry.
She is a graduate of Duke University Law School and The University of Alabama in Huntsville. In 1997, Scarboro became the first African-American to receive the UAH Alumni Association's Outstanding Alumni Award.
