Dr. Carpenter has been at UAH since 1989 and was Director of Women's Studies from 1999 to 2001. Her general areas of expertise are in personality and social psychology. More specifically, she is interested in categorization/stereotyping of groups, gender issues, and cross-cultural analyses. Dr. Carpenter teaches the Social Psychology course in the Women Studies minor, using the lenses of gender and culture to examine social behavior and influences. She also teaches the course in the Psychology of Women, a feminist examination of women's physical, emotional, cognitive, and personality development, as well as issues related to women's lives (e.g., work and family).  Curriculum Vitae.
