Professor Richard
Gerberding received his BA from the University of Minnesota, his MA from
the University of Manitoba, and his Ph.D from Oxford University. He

Carolingians and the Liber Historiae Francorum (Oxford University
Press, 1987) and Later Merovingian France (Manchester University Press,
1997). He has also published a textbook
for Houghton-Mifflin entitled Medieval Worlds (2003).
Dr. Gerberding has built a house near Rogersville on the
Elk River, a house known to his friends and students as "The
Castle". Here he enjoys swimming, boating, and entertaining.
