Club activities vary from meeting to meeting. As a tradition, we host an Eastern Rite Christmas celebration that allows the community to come in and enjoy Slavic cuisine and Slavic music and dance. The club also provides presentations on various Slavic countries, Slavic film, field trips, and many other exciting events. Although most club members either speak or are involved in studying Russian, such knowledge is by no means required. Club members at various levels in their language ability and new members should not feel that it is necessary to speak a Slavic language in order to join the club. Membership, which is free, is open to members of the community, all UAH students, faculty, and staff. The sponsor and faculty adviser for the club is Irena Buksa, Associate Professor of Russian/Slavic Studies at UAH (
buksai@uah.edu).
