The department offers introductory courses in Latin (101-200) and Japanese(101-200). No major or minor is presently available in Latin or Japanese. Students of Latin are welcome at the weekly meetings of the Society for Ancient Languages, which also offers a study group for reading Latin and Greek.  The Society for Ancient Languages sponsor, Dr. Richard Gerberding, has received national recognition for his work with this program.
