The German Program
Some Possibilities on Campus
And Off-campus
Required courses:
GN 301, 302, 304, 305, three courses on the 400 level, and one elective
from either the 300 or 400 level.
The German program begins with a sequence of four courses at the elementary and intermediate levels that teach contemporary use of the language in its cultural context. In some classes, students record basic course material on an individual audio cassette, which then serves as an oral "diary" and study guide. Upper-level students find a wide variety of literature, conversation, composition, and culture offerings which keep them informed on changing events in Germany and its relations with other countries. Upper-level survey courses and specialized seminars cover various literary periods, genres and authors. A linguistics seminar further contributes to the variety of the program. In German Club, students can relax, socialize and try out their German in a friendly atmosphere.
