Scholarships in English
The English Department offers scholarships for both graduate students and undergraduates. Graduate students may also apply for Graduate Teaching Assistantships.
Note that December 1 is
the NEW deadline for the UAH
Financial Aid Office, changed from the old deadline of February 1. UAH
students may be eligible for several different endowed
scholarships, but may be awarded only one endowed scholarship. Important: Students should fill out the Need Analysis
form even when not applying for a need-based
scholarship. Doing so makes students eligible for
other scholarships they may not know about.
Graduate
Financial Aid
The English Department offers a limited number of graduate tuition
scholarships and teaching assistant positions, with awards
usually made in April of each year. For more information,
contact the Director of Graduate Studies. Download the
department's
internal application (Word format).
Undergraduate Scholarships
UAH offers dozens of endowed scholarships for undergraduates, two of which are
available only to English majors (one of them is also available
to English minors). To apply, students must fill out a
general application supplied by the UAH Financial
Aid Office. The scholarship application is available online at http://finaid.uah.edu/scholarships.php . These
scholarships do not require the FAFSE financial aid form,
but many do require demonstrated financial need, for which
students should fill out the Scholarship
Need Analysis form. To be considered for scholarship
requiring "need," students must submit the need analysis
form along with the scholarship application
