The Department of Art and Art History offers a BA with a concentration in studio art, art history, or studio art with a teacher certification, a minor in art or art history, or as part of a program of cognate studies. If a student chooses to pursue a BA with a concentration in studio art they can specialize at the upper division in drawing/painting, graphic design, photography, printmaking, or sculpture.
Most studio and art history courses do not require any previous experience and any student enrolled at the university is encouraged to consider taking art courses as a major, a minor, or simply as electives for personal enrichment through involvement with the visual arts or art history. Transfer students must submit a portfolio of representative samples of their work for review by the art faculty before registration. Credit for equivalent coursework and advanced placement in art courses will be determined by the art faculty.
