UAH College Democrats Meeting Minutes - February 23, 2006 

Hey Everyone! Sorry that the minutes didn't get out from last week but our Secretary was at a tennis match and I dropped the ball. So, here is the info you need to be up to date (I know you've all waited with baited breath!) We've got alot coming up so make sure you're in the loop! 

DEBATE

• The debate has been rescheduled. It will ABSOLUTELY be next Monday March 6 at 5:30pm in NCRH1 Great Room. There will be some free refreshments, and it will be a brawl (as they always are). Don't Miss it!!! Dr. Lee Williams of Multicultural affairs will moderate and we'll be talking about some issues that heavily impact minorities: Alabama Constitution, Minimum Wage, Does the Constitution follow the Flag Overseas, Education Lottery, Funding for Prisons vs Funding for Education, etc. Also, unlike previous debates, WE WILL TAKE UNCENSORED QUESTIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE!! So come cheer us on or make us sweat....this is a great way to kick off election season!!!

MOVIES

• By popular demand, we are continuing our 'Movie Night' trend. So far we've shown "Wal-Mart: the High Cost of Low Prices". Today / Tonight (Tuesday) we'll show "Orwell Rolls in His Grave". The showings are at 4pm in Morton Hall 330 and at 8:30pm in Morton Hall 200. At the meeting on Wednesday, we'll discuss an upcoming showing of "Bush's Brain". THERE IS FREE FOOD / DRINK SO COME HANG OUT WITH US! Its a good way to de-compress before/after mid-terms! 

FUNDRAISERS

• Big thanks to everyone who has been helping out with the bake-sales! So far we've made in the neighborhood of $50. We'll progress to Pizza Sales late this week or early next week. This is a great chance to get involved if you have a crazy schedule because the tables are so flexible - when you can work it, we can set it up! So, if you want to help out but have an odd schedule, let us know and we'll hook you up! 

MEETINGS

• We will meet this Wednesday (March 1) in Morton Hall 337. Just for a reminder, we meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 7pm and the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 7pm.  

OTHER MEETINGS

• The Madison County Democratic Women will have their monthly luncheon at the Holiday Inn downtown (formerly the Hilton) at noon on Thursday March 2. Yearly membership is only $5 and you don't HAVE to be a lady to join. You don't have to be a member to attend. Its free if you don't eat (lunch is $15) To RSVP, contact Marilyn Robertson at madisonco_dwd@yahoo.com .  

• The Madison County Young Democrats will meet Tuesday March 7 at 7pm in Workroom C at the Huntsville Public Library downtown. Elections for this organization are coming up and IF YOU DID NOT ATTEND IN FEBRUARY, YOU MUST BE PRESENT FOR THIS MEETING IN ORDER TO HAVE A VOTE. Yearly membership is $10. Meetings are the first Tuesday of every month.

• DRINKING LIBERALLY is next Wednesday at 7pm at Humphrey's. Its always a blast and the more the merrier! You don't have to drink (just order a Sprite on the Rocks! ). Its just a chance to kick back and relax with like-minded folks. Meetings are the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month!
